FAQ: Monoprint Intensive — 2 Hours
What is this workshop about?
This focused 2-hour session introduces you to the expressive world of monoprinting. You’ll explore trace monotype using an image of your choice, as well as painterly and subtractive methods that highlight both mark-making and negative space.
Do I need experience?
No experience is required. This intensive is designed for beginners or those wanting to refresh and expand their creative approach.
What will I learn?
You’ll learn how to create a trace monotype by transferring a drawing onto inked paper, producing rich lines and textures. You’ll also experiment with a painterly method, applying ink in broad, expressive strokes, and a subtractive method, wiping ink away to reveal light and negative space. Together, these techniques give you the tools to build dynamic, one-of-a-kind prints.
What materials are provided?
All inks, rollers, paper, and printing plates are provided. You only need to bring an old shirt or apron — and an image you’d like to work from.
How much does it cost?
Private Workshop (1 person): $150
Where is it held?
At my studio in the Toi Pōneke Arts Centre, 61/69 Abel Smith Street, Te Aro, Wellington.
Will I take something home?
Yes — you’ll leave with a series of unique monoprints created using both painterly and subtractive techniques.
